Who we are
HOZGO is a UK horse transport marketplace, run by Michelle Hale and George Betson, two working horse transporters with their own transport businesses. You can reach us at info@hozgo.co.uk. Our website is hozgo.co.uk and our app is on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
These terms apply whenever you use the HOZGO app or website, whether you are booking transport or carrying it out.
What HOZGO is, and what it is not
HOZGO introduces the independent transporters we have approved to people who need a horse moved. We are a platform. We are not the carrier.
When a job is agreed, the transport contract is between you and the transporter. They hold the licences and the insurance, and they are responsible for the journey. Our part is the introduction, the price, the payment and the record of the job.
HOZGO covers journeys within the United Kingdom only.
Who can use HOZGO
You must be 18 or over and in the UK. If you book for somebody else, such as a yard or a client, you confirm you are allowed to do that and you accept these terms on their behalf.
Your account
You can sign in with an email address and password, with Continue with Google, or with Continue with Apple. Keep your login details to yourself, and tell us straight away if somebody else has got into your account. Keep your details true and up to date, because a transporter is entitled to rely on the postcodes, dates and horse details you enter.
How a booking works
You enter the collection postcode, the delivery postcode, the date and how many horses are travelling. The app returns a price in real time.
The price you see is the price you pay, and nothing is added on top at checkout. It includes our service fee for running the platform, taken out of the job total rather than added to your bill.
Your job is then offered to HOZGO Approved transporters only. The first approved transporter who can do it at that price accepts it, and no further offers arrive. If none will take it at that price, transporters send you their own offers and you choose one, or none.
A contract is signed in the app, and the job and its status appear in your jobs list.
Your card, and when money is taken
When you book, a hold is placed on your card for the price of the job. That is not a payment. The money stays with you. It is taken on the day of the trip.
If no approved transporter accepts your job, the hold is released and nothing is taken from you. There is nothing to refund, because nothing was charged.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are handled by Stripe, not by us.
The transporter is paid after the job is completed, not before. An undelivered horse is an unpaid job.
For transporters
You must be approved before you can take any work through HOZGO. To be approved, you upload six documents: your driver licence, your vehicle registration, your lorry insurance, your public liability insurance, your care, custody and control insurance, and your Type 2 transporter authorisation. Michelle and George check every one of them.
Approval checks the documents you give us at the time you give them. It is not a substitute for your own legal duties.
Keep your documents current. If a policy, a licence or an authorisation lapses or changes, tell us immediately and stop accepting work until it is back in place. We can ask for updated documents at any time, and we can suspend or remove any transporter for lapsed documents, for a job carried out badly, or for behaviour that puts a horse or a customer at risk.
Michelle and George run their own transport businesses. Their lorries see jobs at the same time as every other approved transporter, with no early look and no first pick.
What we do not promise
We do not guarantee arrival times. A lorry is on the road, and traffic, weather and loading all move a schedule. We do not guarantee that a transporter will accept any job.
We do not insure your horse and we do not insure the lorry. That cover sits with the transporter, under their own insurance and their own terms of carriage. Ask to see it if you want to.
Changing or cancelling a booking
Do it in the app, or email us, as early as you can.
If no transporter has been allocated yet, the hold on your card is released and nothing is taken.
Once a transporter has been allocated, they have set aside a lorry, a driver and a date. What happens then depends on how close to the travel date you tell us. Close to the date, a charge may apply, because the transporter has turned other work away. We will tell you where you stand before anything is taken.
If a transporter cancels, we will tell you and put the job back out. If nobody takes it, nothing is taken from you.
Using HOZGO properly
Do not use HOZGO to break the law, to move horses you have no right to move, or to harass anybody.
Jobs that start on HOZGO stay on HOZGO. Do not take a job found here off the platform to avoid the service fee. We can close accounts that do.
The HOZGO name, the app, the website and everything in them belong to us. You cannot copy them, rebrand them or sell them on.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing here limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Beyond that, because we are the introduction and not the carriage, our responsibility to you is limited to the service fee included in the price of the job concerned. Loss or injury to a horse, damage to a vehicle, or a journey carried out badly sits with the transporter and their insurance. Tell us as well, because it affects whether they stay on HOZGO.
Accounts and changes to these terms
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we have a genuine concern about safety, legality or fraud. That does not cancel a job already under way or money already owed.
We will update these terms as HOZGO grows. The date at the top tells you when they last changed, and we will tell you in the app or by email before a change that matters takes effect. The terms that apply to a job are the ones in place when it was booked.
Law, courts and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
Email info@hozgo.co.uk. We both still drive, so we are not always at a desk, but we read everything that comes in.
