Who is responsible for your information
HOZGO decides how and why your personal information is used, which makes us the controller under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. HOZGO is run by Michelle Hale and George Betson.
If you have a question about your information, or you want to use any of the rights below, email info@hozgo.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
If you book transport. Your name, email address and phone number. The collection postcode and the delivery postcode. The date of travel and how many horses are moving, along with details about the horses that a transporter needs in order to carry them safely. Your payment details, which you enter into Stripe. We do not store your full card number.
If you are a transporter. Your business details and your contact details, plus the six documents we check before we approve you: your driver licence, your vehicle registration, your lorry insurance, your public liability insurance, your care, custody and control insurance, and your Type 2 transporter authorisation. A driver licence and insurance documents carry personal information, so we treat them carefully and only Michelle and George look at them.
Both of you, once a job is running. The messages you send through the app. The record of the booking, the price, the acceptance and the signed contract. Location data from the transporter's device during the job, which is what live tracking shows.
We also keep basic information about your account, such as how you signed in and when.
Why we are allowed to use it
We need a lawful basis for everything we do with your information. Ours are these.
To perform the contract with you. Creating your account, quoting, taking the hold on your card, taking payment on the day, passing the job to the transporter, running messages and live tracking, and paying the transporter on completion.
To meet a legal obligation. Keeping business, payment and tax records, and checking that a transporter is legally authorised to carry horses for hire or reward before we let them near a job.
For our legitimate interests. Keeping horses, customers and transporters safe, preventing fraud, dealing with problems and complaints, and improving how HOZGO works. We only rely on this where it does not override your rights.
With your consent. Anything optional, such as marketing email. You can withdraw consent at any time, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
Who we share it with
The transporter allocated to your job. They get your name, your contact details, the collection and delivery addresses and the details of the horses. They cannot carry the job out without them.
Stripe. Stripe processes card payments, holds and payouts for us.
Apple and Google. They provide the app stores and the Continue with Apple and Continue with Google sign-in options.
Anybody the law requires. For example a court, the police, or a regulator, where we have to hand information over.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not pass your details to other transporters to market to you.
Location data
During a job, the app can show where the transporter is on the journey, so you can see the lorry coming instead of guessing. That location data relates to the journey and the vehicle carrying out the job. It is used to show live updates and to keep a record of the trip. It is not used to track anybody outside a job.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out on this page, and for any period the law requires us to keep records, for example for tax and accounting. Transporter approval documents are kept while a transporter is approved, and for as long afterwards as we need them to show that a check was properly made. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Where your information is held
We use providers who operate internationally, including Stripe, Apple and Google. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as an adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete information we no longer need
- ask us to restrict what we do with it while something is being sorted out
- ask for a copy in a portable format, or ask us to send it to somebody else
- object to us using it where we rely on our legitimate interests
- withdraw consent for anything you agreed to, such as marketing
To use any of these, email info@hozgo.co.uk. We will not charge you and we will reply within the time the law allows. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.
Some information we have to keep even if you ask us to delete it, for example the records of a completed job that we are required to hold. If that applies, we will tell you which part and why.
Complaining
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first at info@hozgo.co.uk so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
Children
HOZGO is not for under 18s. You must be 18 or over to hold an account. We do not knowingly collect information about children. If you think a child has given us information, tell us and we will remove it.
Cookies on our website
Our website does not use advertising cookies and does not track you around the internet. It sets only what a browser needs for the site to work.
If you start an enquiry on the site, the details you type may be stored in your own browser on your own device so you do not lose them if the page reloads. That stays on your device and does not come to us until you send the enquiry. Clearing your browser data removes it.
The app is different from the website. What the app collects is set out above.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as HOZGO grows. The date at the top always tells you when it last changed. If a change affects what we do with your information in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email.
